Pop Art Chester

"Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the 1950s and flourished in the 1960s in America and Britain, drawing inspiration from sources in popular and commercial culture. Different cultures and countries contributed to the movement during the 1960s and 70s. TATE."

Inspired by the Pop Art Print exhibition presented in Chester by Chester Visual Arts, these images aim to support and raise public awareness of the lack of art initiatives in our city. To convey a message of hope, that we can transform Chester into a cultural hub and to reflect on this legacy for future generations. The artwork includes imagery of Chester Visual Art Directors Ian and Cynthia Short, making reference to their work as I support their quest to secure the old Chester library building as a permanent art gallery space.
