"Left, a story of a journey"
The story of Left, a story of a journey emerges from the concept of creating an illustrated book aimed at an adult readership. It illustrates a story about migration represented through a personal reflection based on my own experiences. The aim is to invite the audience to reflect and experience alternative readings and interpretations, encouraging participation in the narrative by engaging in the storyline emotionally, aesthetically and intellectually.
“Left” is created and designed as one story narrated from the point of view of two characters. Consequently, the idea is to create a book that can be read from both ends, or Dos-à-dos in bookbinding, reflecting the storyline through its physical form. Digital imagery is created by combining layers and collage employing photographic references and drawings. Following my interest in paper manipulation techniques, the book includes digital cut out imagery and is traditionally hand bound.
